The Bird Sanctuary at Witty's Lagoon

Witty's Lagoon Regional Park is a favourite for Victorians wanting quick access to local and natural surroundings. This nature appreciation park provides good paths around the lagoon (a bird sanctuary) to a wide sandy beach and good summer swimming.

At Witty's Lagoon you will find an interesting combination of forest, grassland, salt marsh, beach, lagoon and rocky shore, with many birds and plants in these various habitats.

Tides permitting, hikers can make a 4 km beach trip south to Devonian Regional Park. Horses should stay on the designated trails or roads, and bikes are prohibited in the park.

Approximately 40 minutes from Victoria, follow Highways 1, 1A and 14, then turn onto Metchosin Road, continuing for 6 km to the parking lot and entrance to Witty's Lagoon Regional Park.
